According to the U.S. Census Bureau, women comprise over half of the population. Women control more than half or 51.3 percent of the privately held wealth in the U.S. Women make up 1.3 million of the top wealth holders in the U.S. Women control 86 percent of household spending. According to the Women Give 2010 Report, women are more likely to give to charitable causes and 14% more likely to give to causes like United Way. At Tulsa Area United Way, Leadership Gifts (gifts of $500 or more) from women are $2.8 million, making up 11% of the total campaign.
