Tulsa Area United Way (TAUW) proudly announces the appointment of Wes Mitchell as Executive Director of its 211 Eastern Oklahoma (211EOK) program. 211EOK is a 24/7 free service available to citizens across 37 counties of Eastern Oklahoma through a direct phone call, live chat, text message or online search at 211EOK.org. TAUW assumed leadership as the owner and operator of 211EOK on June 1, 2023.
“We are thrilled to have a transformational leader like Wes take our 211EOK program into the future,” said Alison Anthony, TAUW president and CEO. “From housing insecurity and health issues to utility bills and hunger, people require reliable and timely help to overcome these obstacles. I am grateful Wes and his 211EOK team will embody Tulsa Area United Way’s mission to unite people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities.”
As the newly appointed Executive Director of 211EOK, Mitchell assumes a crucial role in managing and leading the program, its staff, and day-to-day operations as an integral part of the TAUW leadership team.
Mitchell said, “I look forward to building upon the strong foundation of 211EOK, expanding its reach and impact, ensuring that every person in need can access the resources and solutions they require. Through collaboration and innovation, we will strengthen our communities and make a lasting impact on the lives of Oklahomans.”
Mitchell brings a wealth of experience to his role, having served as the Director of Business Services for Green Country Workforce, where he developed workforce strategies for employers, partners, and local economic development agencies across an 11-county service area.
His transformative work in independent consulting over the past six years, facilitating the convergence of people, technology, and business processes, has driven innovation, client satisfaction, and positive outcomes.
Before joining 211EOK, Mitchell spent his career leading teams at Hewlett Packard and Electronic Data Systems in the corporate IT world, both in the US and abroad.
A graduate of Howard University, Mitchell has made significant contributions as a leadership volunteer with esteemed local organizations, including the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma, Junior Achievement Tulsa, Tulsa Community College, Teach for America, and the Greenwood Cultural Center.
