We know many people across Oklahoma are working hard but still struggling to make ends meet. Tulsa Area United Way, in partnership with United for ALICE® and with United Ways across the state, invites you to this launch summit to learn what a new report, ALICE in Oklahoma: A Study of Financial Hardship, reveals about a truth many of us see every day.

Who is ALICE?

ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. The term represents households that are working and earning above the Federal Poverty Level, but not enough to afford the basic necessities of housing, childcare, food, transportation, health care, and technology, plus taxes.

The Data Report

This fall, Tulsa Area United Way, in collaboration with United for ALICE and United Ways across Oklahoma, will release a groundbreaking data report that provides a comprehensive picture of financial need and the reasons behind it, beyond traditional federal poverty guidelines. The ALICE Report will provide county-by-county and town-level data on the extent of financial instability among Oklahoma households.

The Launch Summit

At the Oklahoma For ALICE Launch Summit, attendees will hear from statewide leaders across many sectors about what this data resource means for policy and how it can advance work being done across Oklahoma.
Please join us for this half-day event to:

      • Learn about ALICE – Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed – and the soon-to-be released actionable data resources enabling stakeholders to more accurately understand and measure Oklahoma’s population living above the federal poverty level but not earning a living wage.
      • Hear from United Way and nonprofit leaders across Oklahoma about how their programs seek to support and empower ALICE families, and how the ALICE data resources will magnify their efforts.
      • Listen as Tulsa Mayor Monroe Nichols, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, and Ponca City Mayor Kelsey Wagner share how the ALICE resources will be instrumental in addressing their cities’ unique challenges.
      • Participate in an ALICE Living Wage Simulation and learn about the “benefits cliff.”
      • Network with other Oklahoma leaders and community members who care about the wellbeing of all Oklahomans
      • Learn how you can make a difference.
      • Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
